Would the X Trail not be able to tow it Ali, Just thinking if you needed it serviced you could bring it back with you one weekend and take it back down with you the next???

Just a thought.

No it's too heavy.  I have a petrol not a diesel one with a max tow of 1500 kgs.  Its MIRO is something like 1440 with a motor mover on it as well it is too heavy unladen!!

I am waiting for a reply from Swift about approved dealers and warranty centres etc.

Hope all goes well with the Geist purchase. We bought from Elite caravans last year and had a good all round experience. Before you buy make sure you get everything you need in the deal before a final price is agreed.

We negotiated:

A spare wheel, Heiki Roof light, Alko Hitch, external 240v socket, transfer of our mover from the old van. We could have also got a full awning for a very reasonable cost but decided to enlarge our own that we preferred.

Elite caravans are pretty good and i am sure they will be able to come up with some sort of deal or other so you get what you want,

With regard to insurance we went for the Caravan Club Care Insurance that works out to be about £46 per month but is new for old and covers everything.

Agree with the above though it based of cost of new van, contents, excess etc..

p.s. I also had to register the van with CRIS and put the numbers on the windows myself as Elite had not done this

Well it comes with a Heki, we already negotiated spare wheel, mover swap, external plug and gas pipe, We love the awning we have and am hoping it will fit otherwise we may have to get it altered, Where did you get yours changed??

Did CRIS Send you the stickers? And did that cost extra?

P.S OH has just texted me says she thinks its the one for us so applying the pressure now! I haven't even seen it yet in the flesh as she went on her own this morning,

We had a nearly new Ventura Atlantic Verde - only used a few times at size 925 for our old van - the Aktiv 495 is 975 - not sure about the 560? and as we had folding campers in the past and was aware of the quality of workmanship by Tent Valetting Services of Bolton  http://www.tentvaletingservices.co.uk/ then we had it couriered there and altered at a cost of about £150 and turned around within a week. Might be longer now though due to time of year.

We had to apply to CRIS for a number as it was an imported van. We paid a subscription fee - i think it was about £40 not sure though and they sent me all the stickers and numbering templates. Do a search on CRIS for more info.

Our 2007 Burstner is insured new for old through the CC and costs £348 [£29 monthly].

Cost me approx £35 for CRIS registration, the only downside being they are not the "quickest"in sorting this out [took several weeks from memory].

Ok the insurance also depends on where its kept also, our is at a farm with little security if ? yours is in an approved secure compound then thats why it might be a fair amount cheaper to insure - just a thought
