So what chemical was used autobahn?  What was the result of the Police investigations because one would expect there to be drugs in their bloodstreams as well as potentially a trace of the gas on the upholstery of their wagons.

If they used this mystery weapon without any care as has been suggested then there would certainly have been deaths by now.  Nobody would dream of saying that they would use their mystery chemicals with the skill and care of an anaesthetist.  That is not what is important. 

What is important is that an expert in the field has said that is highly improbable that there is any truth in these stories.  Don't forget in the USA a high proportion of the people believe they have been kidnapped by aliens.  There is no more proof of gassing than there is of alien abductions.
