Wondered when I would see unleaded become more expensive than diesel and I have now seen it at one of our local stations on the way home from work this evening.
Unleaded £104.9
Diesel £103.9
Wonder how far the gap will go and how high! has anyone else noticed this price difference?
By the way this was a garage in Fareham, Hampshire
I think the price of diesel & petrol is being manipulated up again in time for the holiday 'driving season' the manipulation cannot go on forever, market forces will prevail again later in the year & prices will drop.
Fortunately they do not appear to have forced the price of diesel up so much this time & it has found its own level(market manipulation is not an exact science)
What is certain is that this government(or any future one)will do nothing about this, they are desparate for cash & need the tax revenue that high fuel prices & profitable fuel companies will bring them.

Here in Shropshire it is still the same way round as always with petrol cheaper. And here's me with a Diesel car!
I'm quite conscious of diesel pricing especially, bit I'm still sirprised by the varying cost even between towns.
In my nearest town of Redditch, diesel is at 107.9 in some forecourts, but just up in Birmingham, 101.9 and even a remote garage in the sticks that you'd expect to be expensive, diesel at 99.9 (perhaps weaker than even supermarket quality though).
A pretty good site I use now and again which monitors fuel pricing is here
At last at our Tesco diesel is cheaper than unleaded. For such a long time unleaded was 13p, yes 13p cheaper than diesel. But the prices has gone up 2p/ltre in the last week or so.
this 'reversal' in fuel pricing is alledgedly down to a surplus of diesel (due to so many trucks being taken off the road due to the recession) and a shortage in the USA of unleaded product for the big gas guzzlers.
Wonder how big the difference will go to and if it will stay that way in the long term
I'm showing my age now, but I remember when diesel was always a few pence cheaper than petrol before it became so popular in cars. Mind you, I also remember when it was priced by the gallon.
