I try to avoid going away this time of year due to the amount of kids you can get on some sites, but I would never begrudge them being there. Like Maxitaxi states they deserve a holiday like us adults. I had many family holidays when I was younger and will always cherish the memories. We arrived home yesterday from a trip of North Wales and we stayed in a CC site with no toilet block which cost only £10.90 per night, that certainly was no rip off.....

I didn't say children do not need or deserve a holiday, I was just trying to point out that a holiday does not need to be fancy or expensive.

If you have a caravan and want to use it for your main holidays (as we do, we have rarely had any other type of holiday), then it can still be an inexpensive holiday.

You are missing the point the rest of us are making.......

You DO NOT need to use an expensive site

Go elsewhere, stop worrying about sites pricing themselves out of the market, it is not your concern. Let these sites fail.

With the Haven sites, I think many of them really do not want tourers any more, filling the space with statics is probably more profitable for them. The same is happening with other sites in the really popular areas. It is a fact of life I'm afraid, there is very little we can do about it.

For the first time this year we are trying a UKCS meet. We wanted a week in Cornwall, but cheapest site that had EHU and decent showers etc was about £26/£27 pernight. On the meet we are staying on a good quality site and paying £15 per night with EHU, which I think is a great bargain. The usual campsit efee for family of 4+ van+ dog would be £26.50 p.n. In addition, the fabulous organisers (the clarkes) have arranged a pig roast and other entertainments. There is also a marquee for the meet. Not being a naturally gregarious person, I usually avoid this sort of thing, but at that price we are willing to give it a go, and joining in is NOT compulsory.

For the past three years we have stayed at a temporary holiday site through the Cand C Club- no facilities but £6.50 a night with EHU and a fab view of Amroth Bay. So there are good cheap opportunities around as long as you don't want lots of entertainment, swimming pool etc,

For 2 adults in peak season I would expect to pay around £22 per night on a CC site. Some are more, some less.

So your £176 is not too bad.

We mainly go away April/June and September/November, so avoid the peak season.

I would not want to pay over £25 per night even in peak season.

RITE ALL TAKE NOTE YOU ARE ALL GOING WAY OF LINE - THE POST IS WHY ARE TARIFFS GOING UP

It is NOT why are tariffs at some sites expensive or "I can find the cheapest site" or you are a mug to pay that for a pitch.
I know I said that I paid £89 for a pitch that was £54 last year for 3 nights, I was happy to pay £89 for this site as we like the site and don't mind paying a little extra if it has entertainment and a pool ect but £35 increase is just not rite,(the same staff and facilities as last year on site) THIS IS THE POINT THAT I AM MAKING, THE INCREASE NOT THE PRICE.
Sites will put prices up ever year but this year it has gone up more than in previous years(£35) come on
If we want we could go to a site that is £9 per pitch per night but it does not have the facilities that we want.
As for boycotting sites that put the price up, you would endup with no sites to go to or some field to pitch in

I think the point many of us are making is that we have not found that site fees have gone up any more than usual.

We pretty much use only Caravan Club sites, I don't think their prices have gone up that much.

Have you asked this site you are giving as an example why it has gone up in price so much? What reason did they give?

The site fees quoted on this thread are one of the reasons we stick to limited facility CS and CL sites, and C&CC Holiday Sites.  Our main holiday this year will be at a C&CC Holiday Site - fabulous views, red kites being fed daily in the next field, peace and quiet, loads of space, no need to book and all for £5.50 a night!  'Facilities' consist of 2 taps (one for spring water, one for 'town' water) and a CDP, but with all the faclities in the caravan, why would be we need more?

Just a quick note, spent a week at Townsend Park in Pembridge end of June/July, they had a web offer on for just £99 for the week (We had 2 adults, dog van awning) don't know if any dearer for more. It had full service pitches, and is one of the Best of British Sites (BoBS). It is a great spacious site.
