We have just acquired a nice sparkly new sprite Quattro, and just need peoples thoughts and experience of moto movers. Basically we have got a Mr Shifta that will move the van, but it’s a bit of a struggle as we live on a very narrow road and the opposite kerb is in the way when we use this due to the length of the van.

So we intend to fit a motor mover to make life easier.

As this is a twin axle we have the option of a 2 wheel or 4 wheel drive, but which is most suitable….

The MTPLM is 1575, and all of the motor mover makers say the 2 wheel will pull this, but is this adequate. I don’t want to pay the extra for 4 wheel if the 2 wheel will do the job.

i know that the 4 wheel will cope better as there are more motors, but has anyone got any experience of a 2 wheel drive on something this size?

If you have to climb kerbs, then its got to be a twin axle job. Our van has an MTPLN of 2000kg and when fully loaded it will climb a 4 inch kerb without any problem even if it is actually turning at the same time.

When turning the van the twin axle movers are designed to pulse the inside wheels to stop them scrubbing & being dragged by the other side, This could soon burn out the motors.

we had our powertouch model 4 fitted yesterday to our 620 charisma t/a and like you was wondering(worrying) if it would coupe. I needed not to worry as it did, It doesn't turn like my single axle van did but it still turned it 45% and then up the slope to the place where it is to stay when stored. You will also need a 110 amp battery to run the mover. So if i was you i would go for the 2 wheel drive and not the 4x4 and save some money and put it towards more nights away in the caravan

thanks everyone...this has put my mind at ease.

our drive has only a very slight slope....easy to push the van up it....i dont need to spin it on its axis as such, as I can position it diagonally across the road and then just motor backwards

i am installing myself so have been surfing around for the best prices and found a model 4 powrtouch with the actuation bar for #995 delivered, so looks like i am on the phone in the morning to order it.

now just counting down until friday so we can actually set-it up fully on a site!

We have the 2 wheel Truma TE fitted to our twin (MTPLM 1900kg) and find it does what we need it to do. A 4 wheel one would do it better, but we did not want the extra weight.
