We have a caravan with alloy wheels, but the spare wheel is steel, will we have to get some wheel bolts to fit the steel wheel as these would be shorter in length?
I have look in the owners manual it justs says to use the correct bolts for the steel wheel, i have not got any extra bolts unless they are stored with the spare wheel.
has anybody changed the wheel to a steel one on a elddis odyssey if so did they have different bolts?.
Seriously though, I would have thought its the similar to cars where the Bolts for both are the same. It may look like they wouldn't fit but when placed up against the hub they probably do

Happy to be corrected though
even on cars, steel wheels have a diferent bolt to alloys, on a few cars, like my 406 the bolts do do the steel spare, others like my old multi had a set of steel wheel bolts in the tool kit.
Steel wheels need a chamfer to keep them seated properly, alloys have a flat mating surface, sometimes with a slip ring (reduces the steel/alloy corrosion)

not all bolts are the same eg mercedes have shorter bolts for the steel spare wheel and as i have seen many times if alloy one is fitted damage will be caused to brakes by stud being stuck inside the hub i would contact dealer some are the same but not all ford is another example steel nuts will not hold an alloy on but alloy nuts are fine on a steel rim
when we had a flat on the 206 the breakdown had to leave the car overnight on axle stands because we did not have steel wheel bolts provided by the garage when new.or so we thought we found them after buying some.when we got the car we had alloys fitted and the steel wheels in the garage still boxed were hiding the bolts.
------------- the only silly question is the one you do not ask.
HI all i have spoken to the sevice manager and he told me that you can use the wheel bolts from a alloy wheel to a steel wheel, but not the other way round, did double check and contacted explorer group and they confirmed this. this should at least be the same for all explorer group vans fitted with alloy wheels and a steel wheel as a spare. hope this helps other owners.

I have a Burstner S500TS that has alloy wheels. It has a steel spare and comes with a set of bolts for that. My bet is that you do need an extra set of bolts.
Well i have spoke to the manufacture (Explorer group) who told me the bolts that are on the alloy wheel will fit the steel wheel, the alloy wheels are a standard fit its a 2008 caravan, steel wheel is surplied as standard.
Zara, I just bought a 2006 odessey 505 5-6 weeks ago and never thought of this. but you reply from the service manager an explorer group saves me looking for a set of steel bolts
