Hi the body of the van is 19ft excluding the A frame....we questioned this too.

Right so do i let this over priced possibly rotten pikey van go then 17. There is a swift in my home town but unfortunately the layout is not quite what i was after. I either want a 4 berth with long enough beds at the back to convert to bunks or i want a 5 berth with bunks at back and a side dinette bed that i can turn into a bunk. If anyone has anything from 1995 upwards let me know!

always follow your gut instinct its usually always right.you have doubts and to be honest so do i.youll get a far better van for your cash than that one being quite frank.

also id never ever part with cash without seeing the item first whether it be a car a caravan or a bar of chocolate

(sorry btw)

Well i don't know whats going to happen now. I've emailed them again to try and get the price lowered due to avondale folding and talking to some friends in the know lol. They'll probably get back to me telling me to stick my offer of £3500 where the sun don't shine lol.

I've also spotted a lunar arriane 6 berth. They are willing to take £1900 for a 94 model.......go on tell me thats too expensive too lol!! they are dubious of me though because i only have 2 feedbacks due to ebay not allowing my password on my old account grrrr! Hubby phoned to complain but got no joy out of them. I had over 250 and 100% positive.

Anyway i'm off to bed now, night night!

I bought a caravan off of Ebay a few years ago, I let my heart rule my head, and got totally stung. The caravan had damp for a start and we ended up paying over £2000 to get it repaired and properly serviced. Never ever again for me.

Isn't there an escrow service on ebay where you can pay funds into it so the seller knows you are good for the cash then it's released once you are happy with the item?

You could then pay for it, check the van and either get your money back or let them have the cash.

If they're an honest seller and are guaranteeing its fine and damp free they shouldn't mind.

Hi
Im no expert but I wouldnt touch them with a barge pole. They look like pikey vans to me. Theres plenty of caravan places (dealers) I mean with caravans under £5000. I wouldnt part with my money until I had seen it in the flesh.

Spoke to some friends whom we are goint away with this weekend last night and they bought a van off ebay it was local to them only cost them £300 but after several outing with the van they felt that the caravan brakes weren't working correctly so they had the van looked at and you'll never guess it had NO brakes an accident waiting to happen...... now luckly they have found another caravan locally through another friend with brakes this time...... so please by very careful buying a caravan off ebay without checking it out.

If in doubt DON'T DO IT!!!! lol I know its easy to rush in when you are excited, but its better to get it right.

The good thing about going to a dealers is that you will have some comeback, and they will have checked it for damp etc, lots of dealers have vans starting from £1000. I think you need to be very careful on Ebay.

Yes - and lots of them will be damp.  It's only *slightly* safer buying from a dealer.  You still need to take your own damp meter and use it!!

I have just bought an Avondale Leda Pentland 1998, 6 berth, single axle caravan from a small dealer near Guildford. No damp at all. Brakes are fine too. In fact, I've had the van serviced by an independent caravan specialist this week and everything was spot-on.

The layout is a large double at the front, a single on the side dinette with a bunk over and a longer single at the rear, again with a bunk over. The layout is perfect for us.

We've received lots of support from another website (dare I say) that has enabled us to obtain specific Pentland advice, an owner's manual plus a contact for Avondale spares, should we need it. We're going to be towing the van to France this summer and leaving it there as our French retreat. We're really pleased with our purchase. Any more info about the van, just ask.

Have to say, I wouldn't have bought a van without looking around it thoroughly first.

Hi i was hoping you'd see this post. I noticed you'd bought one recently when searching for info on them on here. Do you mind if i ask how much you paid for yours? The layout of yours is exactly the same as mine. Infact i was thinking oh no i hope the one i was after isnt yours lol.

I had more email contact with the seller and she's not budging on my original offer of £4200 Infact she told me its my life do as i want but its not my friends money that im spending! LOL do you think i peed her off slightly!

Anyway on a good note the guy who was after my hobby has rang to confirm he defo wants it and is going away for 2wks so i have a bit of time to find another van. I'm not too fussed when but i would like to get one in time for Treveague farm on the 25th July.

Hiya, we paid £3000 for ours, it did come with an awning but we've bought a much newer one off EBay, we've also taken up the carpet and plan to lay a vinyl floor as we won't have a hoover in France, therefore vinyl will be easier to keep clean. The upholstery is in excellent condition, and quite modern too for an 11 year old caravan. We're very pleased with it, it's our first ever van and we're so excited!

My Avondale expert informed me that Pentlands built between 1993-1996 were twin axle, and then the 1998-1999s went to single axle (he could be wrong and I stand to be corrected). I would double-check the CRIS number of the caravan and determine its exact age. The EBay van is definitely over-priced in my opinion.

Good luck with your search.
