the water pump on my caravan is behaving very badly...we are soon off to Devon for our holiday and the pump has now decided to stop pumping...the battery is fully charged...ive changed the pump bit that goesinto the aqua roll but when i turn the tap on in the caravan it pumps the fisrt pipeful of water then stops.....if i turn the tap off and wait a bit the same thing happens a pipe full of water then nothing. the pump still buzzes but no water..........im at a loss as to whats wrong
Do you have micro switches fitted to your taps ( should be able to see wires beneath the taps if you have ) . And what make of water heater do you have , Carver ? ( said in a nice way ).

could be air lock in the pipe but inclined to think its another non return valve fault.thinking about it,i had this one time and it was a broken wire where the pump bends to enter the van.wiggle the wire outside and see if it starts up.
------------- the only silly question is the one you do not ask.
Sounds like the microswitch in the tap. If you can dismantle the tap without it breaking you can buy a new microswitch from your caravan shop but if the tap is old it might be better to get a new tap.
To test it disconnect the 2 thin wires that run down from the tap at the connector. Then short across the connector with a paper clip, if the tap works ok then the prob is the microswitch.
thank you chaps will check the wires and such at the weekend......wizard we are not lucky enough to have a water heater as its an older caravan we just put the kettle on if we need hot water and we managed beautifully until now......where is the micro chip located? it had a new tap itted about 3 years ago during the full service we had on the caravan after we bought it
The micro switch is inside the actual tap, they can fail after 3 yrs. If it is just a single tap you can buy a new tap for about £15 in a caravan shop rather than mess around trying to get it apart.
How the tap works--you turn it on which opens tap & microswitch completes circuit so current flows & operates pump. If you test as in my previous post you are bypassing microswitch & completing circuit to pump. turn tap on & then do this. If the pump still dont work then pump is faulty but I'm guessing it is the microswitch in tap, in which case pump will work if you short across wires.
