I love CL's for what they are. Quiet, peaceful, uncrowded and off the beaten track. In terms of price we dont compare them with larger sites with more facilities as they are our prefered type of site. Until we gave up caravannig a few years ago we used them exclusively and expect to do the same when we get a van later in the year. We were members of the CC for several years and never used a Club site. As long as they have EHU, a tap and elsan point were are happy to pay as much as we would for a full facility site.

Caroline

We regularly stay at a CS on the top of the Wolds at North Grimston, which has great views but, more importantly for winter 'vanning, is mainly hardstanding.  This is very popular with motorhomes who can rarely use a CL/CS in winter. We prefer to camp on the grass except in winter so you may want to consider the plastic matting that the grass grows through (expensive though!) as, hopefully, giving the best of both worlds.  Serviced pitches would be a bonus if not too expensive to install, as well as a MH service point.

One thing we really like is pitches with hedging to separate them as in,say. France.

If you could accommodate two separate entrances, I believe it is possible to have two 5 van sites, as long as the facilities are separate.

Hope this helps.

Whereabouts in EY is the site?

Mike

Thats where we stayed when we picked up the new van. Its in a good location but the loos are a walk and although clean were basic as was the shower. If memory serves it was something like 18 quid a night for 2 of us and 2dogs whcih we thought a bit steep given the basic shower facilities. It did have a nice cafe on site though.

Think you may get a bit of a shock now Dave they charge between £20 and £24 for a pitch and 2 people!! A bit steep to say the least!

excuse my ignorance but what is a 'CL' / 'CS' site?? understand CC as caravan club but stumped on this!!

By the way i think £15 per pitch is a good price but it depends what CL/CS means!!

CL = Certified Location, it's the Caravan Club 5 van sites.

CS = Certified Site, it's the Camping and Caravan Cloub 5 van sites.

Many CS's will take tents as well as their 5 vans/motorhomes

Most we ever paid was £11 on the South Coast, with leccy and showers/loos.

Least we ever paid was £2 - a field with a tap and a drain hole. (+ a mile walk to owners house) in Surrey

Both were great value for money for what we got.

ps - if you want income from a field- maybe you'd consider caravan storage?
