Hi all
Thanks for all your replies. Swifts take on it is that it has been hit by sparks/particles from an angle grinder (we know this did not happen whilst in our possession) they say it did not happen at their factory or at their suppliers. Dealer is adament it did not happen at his so no one is admitting that it happened whilst in their possession.
If we let it go to court the van would have to get parked up in storage for god knows how long, nor do we have the money to legally fight them.
We have agreed for the caravan to be returned to the Swift factory at no cost to us (which is an admission in itself surely) to have the full side resprayed, at the end of the caravan season. It will then still be covered by the 6 year bodywork warranty. The dealer are going to come to the storage facility and buff/polish and wax the affected areas to try to prevent any further damage.
Checked with CC legal dept and they advised that even if we accept a repair at this stage it does not affect our rights to reject if all is not ok....however could make it more difficult but who knows.
Remind me why I chose to buy new over used?
