Hello again. Someone kindly pointed me to a list of things we will need for our first caravan. One of the items is a stabiliser. I seem to think that the salesman told us the caravan came with a stabiliser (its a year 2000 caravan). Is that possible? What exactly is a stabiliser - is it to ensure the caravan is stable or is it some security device??? Thanks!
It's quite possible that a 2000 caravan has a stabiliser attached. It's a device which helps stability of the caravan when being towed by preventing small swings sideways and up & down, making it more comfortable for the driver and passengers. However, it will not compensate for a badly loaded caravan.

You need to check with your dealer as to which stabiliser is fitted to the van because if it is an Alko you will need to clean any grease off your tow ball otherwise it will ruin the pads inside that grip the tow ball. You may need another tow ball.
