Found a lovely van for sale on fleabay with starting price of £7000 (reserve not met).

Can't find a price guide for Geist caravans.  Any one any idea what it's worth?

Othe thing that puts me off is that the seller only has 1 feedback recorded but as the van should be local to me for viewing, I still think it may be worth a look.

Try this one for technical data. Try looking on Autotrader and a few other places to get an approximate price guide. Depends on how old it is and the condition if its fairly new and good condition thats probably not a bad price. Great quality vans!

If is one of the newer caravans (AK/XK) that seams a very good price - have you looked at the Geist website? http://www.geistforlife.com/

If it is the AK495 that I've seen these I think were only marketed from 06 so quite new. It depends on how it was used and looked after. For its five yr warranty has it been checked each year and I would also check its CRIS.

We have an AK no problem with parts for us - we use Camper UK.

Go and take a look and check the servicing is up to date and that it can be transferred to your name.  Also check if the service included a damp check.  What dealer will you take it to to be serviced?  It might be worth phoning them to see what they say.  We've often done that when buying a new car.  The garage knows about common faults and costs so at least we are forewarned lol

I took a look at the pics and it does look like a nice 'van but doubt if it will stay at £7000.00.  And it seems to be privately owned.  I always look out of the window in pictures to see the surroundings just to check that it's not on a gyppo site lol

Keep us posted on what you decide to do...

There is a Geist franchise near me, Camper UK and I can highly reccommend them.

Give them a ring and have a chat to see about sevicing, parts e.t.c. They do have a web site too.

They value their customers, a rare thing today.

Its a 2006, seller says he has all the paperwork and it is CRIS registered, so if need be, I could check it out with them. Also says he has recently had it serviced and damp check was done, with no problems.

Only thing is I can't find any others for sale (this model - lots of fixed bed 4 berths but not 5s) but I think I will keep an eye on it until the weekend, and watch what happens to the price. His starting price is £7000 but reserve not met.  I have a nasty feeling the reserve is going to be about £9000.   In which case, it's out of my budget. Pity, it's just what we've been looking for really but these vans do seem to hold their money.

Patches - if you are looking for a new van try Elite Caravans because they were selling the Geist Aktiv 495 for 8.5K NEW!

http://www.elitecaravans.co.uk/products.asp?c=36&d=2

Most are sold but they may be getting in other stock - some are 2007 models though

Worth a try or price comparisson.

Andy

Thanks for that, but the one I'm looking for is sold.

Went to look at fleabay van, decided not to buy for reasons I won't go into on here, save to say it does annoy me when people list things on ebay and don't give a proper description of condition.  I only had to drive 20 miles to view said van...someone could have driven the length of the country to take a look and that's just not fair to potential buyers.

Hello there,
This is my first post on here, so please be gentle with me. I have just purchased an immaculate Geist Aktiv Ak560. Upon inspecting this van, we found that we could not find the waste water outlet. The sellers were completely ignorent of the workings of the van, as they had inherited it and wanted rid. We resorted to pouring water down the sinks, while I lay under the van waiting to see where it emerged. I found that the kitchen sink and bathroom outlets merged behind the off side wheel underneath the van. It was evident that the main outlet point had been ripped of at some time. Is there any chance that someone who has a Geist van, could photograph the underside of their van where the waste pipes from both the kitchen sink and the bathroom merge, to where the outlet is situated on the body of the van? Other than this minor, but essential service, the van in absolutely stunning. Any help will be most appreciated. Regards, Charles

A lot of modern vans have separate outlets for kitchen and bathroom waste and these outlets are often side by side. They do not merge but with separate short hoses they can be discharged into the same container.

Outlets now seem to be fitted on UK offside behind wheels as this makes them accessible with an awning attached and behind the wheels means they are always the same height above ground even on sloping ground.
