doing 1st trip of the year (dont sl*g me mum has been ill and hasnt been out of the house apart from doctors for 4 months) gawd it is hard graft, tyres checked for pressure and blown up using footpump (i wanna compressor), torqued, checked inside and out for bulges etc (good tip use a towing mirror to see the inside. Brake gear checked and lubricated where required, steadies greased, hitch checked.
still got most of the gear is loaded only food + personal gear, plus car to refuel and load
Its hard graft but its worth it. Think of that cold beer waiting for you when you are on site. I have packed up and prepped the van numerous times now but still manage to forget something from awning poles to the worst thing I could think of to forget the bottle opener (surprising what you van revert to open bottles).
just finished doing ours, all packed ready for an early start tommorow, off to cornwall staying at wayfarers adult only site, hope its as good as reviews say
We've been away in our a few times this year and only last night when we were setting up I commented to OH about how much hassle it is! We leave our van fully packed so only have to add food and undies and it still seems to take ages then it took over 1.5 hours to set up on site!
It's a lot easier to pack a case, drive to a nice cottage, walk in an sit down.....
I always thought it was just us that found it hard work so i'm glad to hear we're not alone.
We're off to Cornwall in the morning and haven't stopped doing one thing or another.
Chinese for dinner i think because i'm knackered
We are moving off early next Thursday and I am already putting things in the van. This time I am not doing it all the day before. I was shattered the last time we went.
we take far too much stuff but trying to cut down is difficult, clothes seem to be the biggest problem i bet half the stuff comes back un worn .i have got some spare time before we are off again in two weeks so i think i will weigh every thing that goes in the van just to see what weight we are dragging round .we enjoy getting ready to go its part of the fun. my sister in law takes 3 kettles the electric one they use ,a spare electric and a gas one just in case the electric goes off . why ?.
I always take too many clothes! Just back from Cornwall for five days and because the weather forecast was dodgy took 5 summer skirts, tops, cardigan, 3 coats (different weights) three pairs of jeans, 4 light canvas pairs of shoes, one smart pair, and trainers. Took nearly as much for OH (but trousers instead of skirts) and in the end we only wore jeans and tops! Must be because in hotels people seem to wear something different every day/evening and I am still in that train of thought. One reason we took up caravanning was because you are able to relax and not have to dress up that much, so I need help
