well they could be newcommers to towing and not experienced caravanners as we are who are commenting on it,lets just hope they are all OK for which we all agree,as I have seen the increase this year seams to reflect on the sales persons who may have little or no idear on towing,or have little time to advice because of sales increase,a freind of mine who owns a leisure company says he can not cope with it this year as its just sale after sale of good quality S/hand M/homes and caravans,and now they are becomming hard to find.

I am always puzzled by this fascination for reporting overturned vans on caravan forums. We can speculate as much as we like but we don't know the cause and assumptions are are not helpful.

I always understood that the hitch to caravan had to be level, OP states downward. Is this correct or a preference?

could be any combination of factors that contribute to an overturning incident.may have had to take evasive action to avoid some moron who`d cut him up !!!!!

we`ll probably never know, as long as the occupants are unscathed thats all that counts

Yes thats what thought(as per the piccy in my avatar) and i am pretty new to caravaning so will be interested to see what peoples opinions on this are,when my s max is parked up with the van attached all is level..is this correct, i am now wondering

what annoys me is the assumption its always newcomers that have accidents with caravans.it seems a lot of more experienced van owners object to people starting a new hobby.everyone was a beginner to start with.

i know a guy whos bought his first ever caravan only last month but has been driving hgv's for the last 15 years.wonder if hell get critisised?

in short generalisation is wrong IMO

Yes David,

I agree the morbid fascination is not too good, but, a forum  discussion of all the possibilities of what went wrong it does give newcomers an insight into what they should be considering when venturing out themselves.

If this saves one accident we would all be very pleased.
