Gosh. Loads of interest in this old beast.
I collect it tomorrow and will post some pics in "gallery" for information. Dunno if I've paid too much, but the condition + a load of extras thrown in pretty much reassures me and it should be a 'van for a very long time. I couldn't possible haggle as I know the sellers and they said they'd reduced the price from £4k. I am impressed with some of the gizmos - self winding steadies, a sliding bed to make up a double with a passage to walk down one side. Pretty fancy electrics. Inboard water tank (although I probably won't use that) A built in bread bin - eh?
Everything just fits and slides beautifully and works. All the slot screws inside cupboards point up and down (cabinet maker's touch). There are special wooden fittings for individually holding cups, coffee pot, crockery etc etc.
I'll fit a new set of tyres to be on the safe side and then it'll be ready for the road. Must give it an outing asap. My Coachman Amara is learning French near Saumur meantime - I hope she's not jealous when she sees the new love in my life! They'll have to live together over the winter - is this polygamy? but will split them up next spring.
Bit of late spring cleaning and polishing tomorrow although she's pretty tidy really.
There's a rust stain on the rear glass fibre panel coming from a tail light. I'll need to fix the rust and try to remove the stain although that may be near impossible? Any tips?
It looks really old fashioned inside because of the furniture styling but it's quaint and I think I love it already. Despite the age it has full DG windows and a cassette loo. Full electrics with plenty sockets. You want to see these Carlight glasses!
Will update when I've had a good look over everything.
For info the spec says
Model: Carlight Commander 152 MkIII Length (overall): 18' 10.5" Length (interior): 15' 4.25" Width (overall): 7' 1" Weight (unladen): 945Kg Number of berths: 2 Year of manufacture: 1992 Cost new: circa £25,000 with all the extras (specially upholstered seats with knee support!) set of glasses etc etc.
I feel quite posh really.
