Just woulnderd if some one could help me regarding EXTERNAL GAS BBQ POINT on my swift archway woodford 2002 van. I have just purchased a Beauclaire Gas BBQ, was told not to use it of the external point as you do not get the full pressure,
Was going to use it direct from gas bottle with butane, is there any difference or should i run it of externel, if so what fitting do i require, and does it make any difference regarding length of hose. HELP APRESIATED
i think they said about the pressure due to the other use of the gas eg fridge, heater, hot water.
i dont have a point so i just use it from the bottle but if i had a bbq point id use that, unless ive got fridge and water heater going.
i think i read before about getting long lengths of gas pipe is hard due to health and safety regs, id keep the hose short as you can, less chance of it getting damaged or tripped over then.

I have never had a problem using the external gas point. The pressure is regulated by a standardard regulator attched to the bottle in the front locker. This should provide all the gas pressure you need to run a standard size burner in most portable BBQ's.
If it didn't there would be little point in having one on the side of the van.
I was able to get any length of gas hose I wanted from my local canal boat yard. This enables me to position the BBQ at either end of the van.
Agree with above. Our external point is regulated at the bottle, so no worries there. We also have a 5 metre hose to make sure we cook well away from the awning. As with most external gas points, ours is on the side of the awning. If we had a short hose we would be cooking in or very near to the awning. A health and safety issue in it self in my opinion.

I got my supplier to make up a longer that usual length for me, he did it but did say there was actually a regulation that set the maximum length of hose they are meant to supply, I think it was 1.5m.
I have a beauclaire and an externl gas point - I have 2 lenghts of hose a short when not using porch awning and long for larrge awning. If you look in the towsure catalogue you will find spare gas nipples - i think one with a 6mm bore and one with an 8mm. The trouble is gas will lose pressure quick over a length of pipe so the larger bore would be better for longer lengths of pipe. To be honest when I use the longer lenght of pipe the drop in pressure does not prove a problem as the Beauclaire is used on low setting anyway. Just one point I think th eBeauclaire is the best BBQ I have ever used - good choice.

As well is two words!
How does a sage know everything about everything? or does he? or does he just think he does?
Remember, if you buy something you bought it, not brought it.
Dependent on which point you have as to which connection you require. They are only a couple of quid.
I use my external point with no issues. Obviously if you had fire and water heater on the pressure would drop slightly but it would still be high enough for your bbq.
As for hose, the maximum permissible length you should be able to buy is 2m.
