To answer the question whether Lunar caravans are any good, we have a 2006 Lunar Lexon 640 (the one with the island bed at the back) and recently took it in to a dealer for it's damp check. Not only did the dealer say that there was a zero reading on his damp meter throughout the van but he added that NEW Swift caravans were being delivered to them many of which gave  damp meter readings of up to 30%.

He substantiated this by taking us into their workshop where there were indeed three new Swifts, all undergoing damp treatment.

I must admit that I had previously believed that Swift made decent vans but I have certainly changed my mind now.

As for our Lexon 640, here is a list of the things that have gone wrong with it so far: (1) last week I fitted a new 110 amp battery as it's predecessor was found to be leaking. (2) I had to replace the water pump 6 months ago as the original one decided not to work as efficiently as it had previously done (this was probably my fault for running the pump dry on a number of occasions). That's the lot.

There have been reports of pre 2004 Lunars giving a few problems but I must admit that I have not heard of anything detrimental on later models.

I do not agree that Lunars are particularly cheap. They are however very good value for money and generally lightweight enabling them to be towed by ordinary cars as opposed to 4 x 4s.

From our experience I can only recommend the Lunar brand to any prospective purchaser.
