I am about to advertise my Dad's caravan for sale, and one of the boxes to fill in is the length and width. As the van slopes at the front, where and how do I measure it please?
I've checked other vans of the same make/model, and they seem to be listed as 14' or 15' - but an outside measurement of mine comes out at 16' 2" which doesn't sound right at all!
Thanks for the reply - I measured it without the tow hitch, but even then I am not sure where to measure from and to, when the van's body slopes at the front. I measured it as 16' 2" end to end at the longest part, but I have seen other similar vans advertised (Avondale Quantock 2 berth) at 14' and 15' ???
Ah - thanks Chinster1957, this I didn't know. I have tried googling variations on 'how to measure a caravan' and come up with not very much helpful! Except for an Aussie website which says that different manufacturers use different criteria....
The interior measurement the way you describe is somewhere between 14' 3" to 15'. Hmmm....
I would give overall body length, shipping length, and internal length at bed-box height, i.e measured along the line of the timber below the seat cushions.
For width I would give overall width and internal width.
Okay, thanks all. I had no idea it was so complicated until I started to advertise this! I am about to go outside armed with my tape measure once more.....
