hi, our old tin tent is an avondale too, with a carver 2 water heater, have just looked at the user manual for it and all i can find on 'clicking' in the fault tracing section is as follows
' GAS OPERATION' "when switching on from cold, green light comes on and after 10 seconds the red light as well
= when listening to the heater during this sequence a click should be heard followed by intermittent ticking for 10 seconds=
A/ air in gas supply, purge pipe by switching on and off again ,repeat as necessary, B/no gas supply =check isolation valve & bottle, C/ intake or flue obstructed = check & clear
or a click heard but no ticking or ticking but no click = poor connection at multi pin plug in wall switch or on heater = pull out & re-insert the plug.
we had a similar fault ( with out the flames) on our carver after it had been stood idle for a month or two, i followed the instructions above and after the 3rd attempt the system was working normally again and has been no trouble since, hope this helps
------------- no tin tent outings booked as yet ,just another cruise in Sept' booked so far
