Just got back from a 10 day trip using a PDQ awning.

No issues with travelling with the awning on the caravan, it didnt flap in the wind, didnt affect the stability of the outfit at all. Car is a Toyota Verso 2.0 D4D towing at a 60% match, & returned over 30mpg at a steady 60mph. (60-65mph on the clock); I would say it hardly affected the economy. The awning goes up very easily. Havent quite got it down to 2 minutes yet but comfortably in 5. Quality wise its average, poles are lightweight but sturdy enough. Fabric is a heavy duty tent like material & seems tough enough. A bit of an issue with the gaps at the side but it was halfway over a window so expected really. Lots of pegging points around the skirt & despite some really heavy rain it didnt leak. Only issue really is the rain tended to pond in the middle of the roof. Was about 5" deep one morning but didnt seap through & gave the children a bit of fun tipping it off.

Taking it down equally easy, even in pouring rain...!!!

All in all very happy.

Some imporvements...additional roof pole(s) to avoid the ponding.

Hiya Takisawa, we have a pdq as well as full awning and we got round the gap where it goes over the window by using foam pipe lagging (£2.00 a pack) and sliding it over the elastic pegging points , it stops the panel flapping in the wind and helps close the gap. hope this helps . atb Bill17

We bought a 3m PDQ brand new 2 years ago. It has a central pole to stabilise the roof so we didn't get the pooling problem. We were very happy with it until it had to be put away wet. By the time we got the chance to take it off to dry it( a week later) mould had formed. Still can't get the mould off the leather bag. The next time we used it the zip for the main doorway snagged which has been a continual problem ever since. Then a weld came apart on the strange 3 way coupler that goes at either of the two front corners. I wrote to PDQ detailing the problem and asking baout the quality of their zips. 3 weeks later in the post I got a box containing 2 sets of the strange 3 way couplers but no comment about the zip.

Last time we used it we noticed that the ties for the front poles had perished.

I suppose you cant complain for the price.

Would have been using a Fiamma zip now but for the fact that Bailey said it would invalidate the warrantee so I still haven't solved my awning problem.

Dave
