Hi

We have a 99 Crown regent. In the toilet area the sink is the type that you fold down and when you fold back up the water runs out the back and into the waste.

By accident this was flipped up with a soap bar still in the sink therefore losing the bar of soap down into the waste area.

Do you know how to remove the sink to get to the bar of soap?

Cheers

N

I used to have a caravan with a sink like that. It got blocked - may have been because a similar thing happened. I couldn't work out how to get into the drain bit even though the sink is fairly easy to remove. I used Mr Muscle drain unblocker to clear it. I don't think there's any hope of getting the soap back, but some Mr Muscle will clear it out so it doesn't block it.

We had a Eldis caravan and after several times fishing down the back with a slotted spoon to get the soap out, we discovered the sink would un slot with a firm wriggle  (if its like the one we had it clips on to fixing point ech side) on to in a semi upright position! Sorry not the best description!

Must admit the 'genital wiggle in a semi-upright position' made me giggle 17

Seriously - once you've sorted this out, switch to liquid soap in a bottle - keeps much better in the caravan, leaves no soapy mess everywhere .... and MUCH less likely to be in the water when you tip the basin up!

Plenty of very hot water and it will melt. Not worth worrying about. At least you'll have clean waste water for a while!

You can actually take these sinks completely apart.

One of the mirror glass doors in the cabinet above the fold up sink in our Abbey Oxford came off en route and peirced the sink which had tipped down. I (as a prevuos reply said) wiggled the sink part off and then carefully went arond the join between the top part and the bottom part with a narrow bladed scraper.

Once apart I repaired the top bit with araldite and sealant before glueing them both together.

A big job for just a bar of soap but possible.

Hi there,
used to have a regent myself and had the same problem.
I think what I had to do was when the sink was in an almost folded up position, wiggle as suggested below. One side should slide out, then the other.
Leaves loads of room to get your arm in and fish the soap out.
Its amazing how much water this actually holds.
Then putting the sink back in is just a case of slotting one end in, then the other.

when did you get yours? We traded ours in in Wishaw last easter.

Cheers,
John

thanks for all the advice. i removed the sink and got the soap. Trouble is now that I put the sink back it does not look as level. I need to use a little gentle (not genital!) persuasion.
John, we got ours in March this year from Lochgelly. Great set up for us. 2 kids (5 and 2) the double bed at the back is great for our 2 year old and the 5 year old on the bunk.

Best advice we were given on buying the caravan is to always use liquid soap, to stop the sink from blocking. He told us that little bits will break off of soap and eventually block the drainage system

We have a 1998 Regent and had the same problem, my husband took the sink off and retreived the soap along with about 4 toothbrushes that the previous owner must have lost!!!

Now before we hitch up I take the soap out and put it in the sink in the kitchen area!
