We have a 23ft twin axle caravan, a very narrow opening into our garden and a narrow road leading to the garden that is very uneven.  We managed to get the caravan into the garden last autumn with the help of 6 people.  I have been putting off going away in the caravan because of the hassles we had getting the caravan away.  however, I'm getting itchy feet and really want to go away again. 

My question is how good will a jockey wheel motor mover be? We really cannot stretch to getting the axle motor mover (but will be investing in one eventually).  Will the jockey wheel type be suitable to turn the caravan into the garden which will be a 90degree angle?

Really confused, but really wanting to get the caravan back out!

The purple line one we had is only rated to 1200 kg (I assume your van is much more than this) and also only really works on concrete or firm surfaces (grass and gravel are no goes).  Remember the only grip you will get is the jockey wheel which has around 80 kg of weight on it rather than the caravan wheels which take the balance of the weight.

ours wouldnt move a van weighing 1100 kg.any moisture on the drive led to wheel spin and caravan going nowhere.

I bought a mover, got it really cheap and glad I did not pay a fortune since the wheel spins when I try to get up the small incline of the pavement or the small slope into the garage. I have an Esterel folder and needed the mover since I have a total of half inch clearance (1/4" each side) through the garage door.

A tip I can give to anyone is that I have a plastic stacker box with solid steel bars in that I place on the A frame to provide additional weight to reduce the wheel spin.

Our 1200Kg caravan could not climb a 3" deep slope using a Jockey Wheel Mover!!!!

I had bought it on Ebay secondhand but in good condition. I sold it for what I bought it for, so no loss there.

We now have a smaller van but with a "proper" axle/wheel type mover and I will never own another van that does not have this type of unit on it. There really is nothing that compares with them.
