Can anyone tell me how heavy a 6kg propane cylinder should weigh empty please. I'm taking OH & kids down to cornwall in two weeks time, leaving them there for a week & then I'm going down for a fortnight.
Even though the kids are all in their teens, I don't want them having to change a cylinder while I'm not there & I also don't want to hand a cylinder in for a new one with lenty of gas in it for a week.
I think the numbers on the top of the cylinder indicate the tare weight but not sure which ones.
I use one of those magnetic things that tel how full your gas bottle is. Seems reliable, and not expensive. Got mine from Towsure, but most caravan accessory shops seem to stock them
The empty weight, depending on the make, is stamped on either the bottom "foot" or on the shoulder of the bottle, together with the test stamps and certification details. As suggested above, if you weigh a full bottle then the tare weight is just that less the weight of the gas.
If they are Calor cylinders they normally have a aluminium disk around the neck of the cylinder just below where you attach the regulator this normally has the tare weight stamped on here.
------------- Never argue with an idiot, they will bring you down to their level then beat you on experience.
