Hi,
I have what most of you would consider to be an unsafe outfit. As far as I am aware it is completely legal so as long as drive carefully I am no more resky than some of the other outfits I have seen on the road.(big 4x4's towing twin axles baddly)
I have a kia cerato 1.5CRDI and I tow an Adria Altea 542 DK and the van does look a bit silly attached to the car but......
I have taken advise from this forum and freinds who also have vans and all in all I don't have a problem.
I have just come back from Scarborough going over the moors up and down the hills and it was scrary at times, but I don't think it would matter what I was driving some of those hills are steep and it would be scary in a big 4x4 just the same.
* Checking nose weights
* Ballancing the load in the van correctly
* Correct tyre pressures
* Keeping distance from vehicle in front
* Using mirrors regulary to check for large passing vehilcle
* Having suffienct weight in the car (loading it up correctly as well as the van)
* Stabilizer pads checks regulary
These are just some of the things that I do EVERY time I tow.
Cheers
Richard
