hi, we are going to look at a caravan in a private sale tonight.how do you go about finding out if there is any outstanding finance on it ?

i know on cars you can get an hpi check....but caravans ??

Not sure how you do that but get the cris number and check that. Look out for damp and get an expert to have a look at it before you part with your cash. The forums are full of people who have been caught out and bought a damp caravan when they thought it was OK. You might be better buying from a dealer with a guarantee.

Thats what CRIS do , they check for it being reported stolen , written off or subject to a finance agreement .

Knew they checked on stolen etc but didn't know about the finance bit.

well its a done deal and its immaculate.not a mark on it...anywhere , some of the loose fit carpets still in the plastic.its the exact layout we want , full service history and damp report...all clear ,even got a twin axle mover on it.

cant wait til saturday now although we wont be using it for the hols, aint got time to swap all our gear over ,change insurance and book a bigger size pitch so somehow will have to squeeze it in our garden..lol
