Does anyone have any info about this van??
Have the chance of buying one in quite poor condition but it's cheap and I think it looks SO cute!!! With a lot of hard work I think it will make a really dinky little caravan.

Do you/have you owned one? Does anyone have a handbook for this particualr van or know where I could possibly track one down?

Any information or advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Our first caravan was a Monza, we loved it but traded in for something bigger.  We never felt the same love for any of our other vans after the Monza and looking back we were only victims of big caravan envy.  If I was going back to a caravan (we now have a campervan) it would be a small van like it and never a big caravan again.

Never had one but looked to buy one as it was a ten foot, four bearth, with a toilet. We had a smaller car and two young daughters and thought this would suite us fine. Agree with you they were a cute little van.

Our first van was also the tiny Monza. A nifty little number in white and mustard. It had a bench across the front under the window and a hammock you could sling across above it. The seating and table at the rear made up a double bed and took over the caravan. You could cook breakfast without getting out of bed. The toilet compartment was so small it had a second hinged panel behind the door. You had to open the panel then clip it to the door frame so you had room for your knees in the V created by the door and panel. It also had gas mantles which I loved and the electrics were 12v only. It had cold water but no tap you had a foot pump in the floor by the sink to get the water up to the spout the spout.  We loved that little van. A far cry from the vans today. I have photos but they predate digital photography so I cant upload them I'm afraid. Good luck with your project if you decide to go for it.

we are new to caravaning and have recently bought an ABI Monza (1987) and love it to bits. it has a bouble bed made from the table and chairs at the front of the van and the rear side seat pulls out to make a double (although it looks like this has been modified from bunks),we have 2 children under 3 and they sleep on the double when pulled out at the rear and we sleep on the double at the front. If you get an awning you will find it is more than ample in size and very cozy whn weather is bad. not really got a bad word to say about it. they are also very light and easy to tow.

Thanks for all the replies.

Have no idea of the year (anyone know how I can find this out?)

The plan was to rip everything out and basically start from scratch as it looks very tatty inside and the floor needs a bit of attention.

For the price I think it's worth buying if only to keep me amused over the cooler autumn/winter months while I build new cabinets and make some pretty cushions and curtains.

Thanks again

Hi Helen, I suspect that your caravan was built around 1979, we had the 1982 model and our friends the 80, and they were both Cream in colour with some brown and Orange decals. We looked at a recent secondhand one at the time before buying new, and indeed they were of the Mustard and White tones you discribe. We had the 3.60S(first year they were given metric sizes), a five birth similar to the one discribed above with the pull out double from the rear seat, and originally they did have a hamock bunk rather like a stretcher fitted over head. I remember it quite well when one of my young daughters wee'd all over her sisters below after drinking too much cola before bed! There was no matress provided for the top bunk, just the canvas base on two poles.

Julia

Forgot to add, I may have an NR awning to fit lurking in my loft if you do buy it, its to fit a 12ft van, and has been used on an Avondale Adonis. I would let it go cheaply as I need the space if your intrested.
