Greetings Brasso,
Viamichelin gives the shortest route as 87miles leaving Woolacombe down the A391 to Barnstable where you pick up the A39 'Atlantic Highway' that passes Newquays front door.
However, the same site actually recommnds that you go down to Oakhampton via Hatherleigh, join the A30 and continue on this road to Indian Queens where you turn off and meet up with the same A39. That route is given as 107miles.
I can see their point, however, the first 49miles of the recommended route is neither wide or caravan friendly.(In fact its a bu**er)
At least the A39 is a wide road and less contourted.
Given the choice I'd get onto the A39, head south and expect the journey to take about 2hrs.
Regards
