Yes I did say "on a shed" []

We've got a tiny little beach hut (its a glorified shed really) and we are getting a bit fed up of getting rained on while we are there.

It's so small there isnt enough room to sit inside it - its more for storage and for making a cuppa, so we would like to make some kind of canopy for it

something we can put and and down with ease (and quickly)

something which wont spill over onto our neighbours "pitch"

Something which will be showerproof and big enough to sit under.

Have already tried a small gazebo but they are too big and spill over inot next door, was thinking about a simple tarp but i think it might be too much faffing about to make it worth putting up and then down again as the weather demands.

How about a porch awning??? im thinking we could fix an awning rail to the outside of the hut and use a small porch awning ??

would that work? can you get flexible awning rail to round the shed??

i think you may need to buy as closer fitting awning rail as possible then take it with measurments to section bender or ring roller who will be able to shape it to a perfect fit without loosing the gap for awning to fit in to or

im sure you could make something as good its only a track for it to fit in to

You could get a movelite and just tie it to the back of the shed. You dont need a rail for these they are freestanding!!The XL would fit lots of people in seated.

Hi,

There would be no problem actually fitting a porch awning as they only need a length of horizontal rails the same width as the awning. (They are held back to the sides of the van with light poles)

The problem would be (IMO) that as you would not be wishing to encroach on your neighbours space, you would be limited to having the same width as the shed..hence you would still not be able to sit in it.

You may also struggle to find one narrow enough.

You could try a tent canopy/extension, these just 'drape' over the top and are pegged down at the back. If you really wanted it to be thread through an awning rail, just cut the canopy at the right place and sew on awning piping. (depending on your sewing skills) I think the width of these would be nearer to the size you require rather than a caravan awning.

I think your immediate neighbours might have an issue with it if it blocks their view etc. Would a sun canopy
help?

Good idea, I wouldn't want to be the owner of either of your neighbouring beah huts though. You awning will block their view. Good idea never the less. I might put one on the back of our garage so we can put the awning up.

I love that idea - much sturdier than a gazebo

Yes indeed, it appears that a porch awning will be too wide for our modest hut. Thanks for the reply.

Thank you everyone for your input and suggestion. It seems that a porch awning will be too wide so im looking into the suggestion of a tent porch extention.
