Thought I would start weighing some of the kit that we will be carrying in our van, which we are collecting tomorrow. Thought I had loads of spare capacity until I remembered to add the 60 kgs for the motor mover and battery

I wonder how many of us forget to take into account the mover/battery weight?

The upshot is that 50 kgs will be loaded into the car!

Yes, there are only two of us, so it's just another passenger really. To be honest, I could put it in the van and it would still be within the set limits, but I like to keep the van as light as possible.

Good idea.  A lighter van has less "pendulum" effect.

My van, see gallery, has a delivered weight of 704kg. That includes the mover and a 110 amp battery.

The max weight it can be is 1000kg.

I doubt if even the wife's suitcase and the kitchen sink would weigh 296kg.  17

each holiday I have the same problem trying to keep the weight down in the caravan, and it is amazing the stuff one wants to put in the van "just in case" we might need it.

We're running this across the table today. We're off to Cornwall next weekend & we normally take two vehicles down because of the amount of kit we take for a three week holiday. However, this is only a one week break so we're trying to leave one vehicle at home if possible but with 6 of us going, it's not easy to decide what we "need" & what we'd like to have there just in case.

We've got a 214kg payload with 143kg Personal efect payload so we have to do our maths to get it right or more fuel & £2 a night extra vehicle on site costs. Obviously the main thing is to remain safe & legal at the end of the day. But when we unloaded the van so it could go for a service we were amazed by the amount of kit we had in it.
