17  im furious.

We keep our lovely caravan in our back garden.  Not exactly road access so we have to take down the fence when we want her out, and put the fence back up, thats fine.

Been away last weekend and because we are going away again next weekend we thought we would leave it outside on our house.  Its not a main road and the only vehicles that pass our house live next to us.  2 days ago the council received a complaint about it being outside!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  arrrrrrrrggghhh its not hurting anyone, not obstructing anything!!!!!!!!

Anyway they have been to see us today, and said its fine that we are moving it next week and thats it not a permanent fixture.

People need to get a life, they clearly have nothing better to do but complain.

WHY DO PEOPLE HATE CARAVANS SO MUCH???

rant over

thanks 17

I too would go with the jealousy thingy tbh. After all I bet they can't say that THEY own TWO homes nah nah nah nah nah

By the same token I reckon peeps who have tents should also pop 'em up in the front garden now and then just to see the reaction of their neighbours. Sorry, I think I've had me cheeky pills today.

We had our smaller tin tent permanently parked on the front of our house for many, many years and never once did we have so much as a distainful glance or comment. Even when the house next door was up for sale, the viewers never even gave it a second glance and it certainly didn't make selling problematic as it sold very quickly but it was down at the front of our property so bang outside the front window of ours of the other semi we're attached too, (and please note we do NOT have acres of land in front of our house). Come to think of it, we actually used to have our neighbours asking for a guided tour...never took long as ya can imagine with just a 14' tin tentDunno if they expected tea and scones aswell?

The things I miss most about our new one being too long to fit comfortably on our front is being able to nip out and sit in it whenever I please coz I'm a saddo like thatAnd how much easier it was to pop out to give it a spruce up prior to use, plug the fridge into the mains to get it going and for ease of loading when we were going away, well, that and the money we're having to fork out for it's storage site fees! I certainly miss that dosh in the bank!

Hope you have a lovely time away in yours you jammy beggar....we've still got

EIGHT more sleeps till Mevagissey. Whey hey

the council are only looking at it just in case they want to find a means of uping your council tax for having a extra room or two.

I know it can be infuriating but when my next door neighbour had his speed boat and sign written van staring at me from his drive it irritated me......

Not enough to complain to the council though.....Just a few sarcastic comments about when he was expecting the flood.......

jealous gits!!

how awful, if it was such a huge problem why ever didnt they just ask when it was going back into the back garden?

our van has to be in storage as we dont have room for it at home but about a week before we go away we collect it and tow it to mils to sort and load it. Mil has a covenant on her property stating no caravans but when they got their new van they spoke to all the neighbours and they have no problem so there is one van there permanantly and one that visits for a week or two every so often.

hopefully you will have a great holiday.

Sadly we can no longer do that....coz this longer one is in storage we have to do the cleaning out and up there, which is fine really coz they've got lovely washing facilities there including a wall with steps behind so hubby can get right up to see what he's washing on the roof

But now we can only bring it home on the day that we're going away where it has to be temporarily parked on the road outside our house and I do the packing and fridge starting up business there and ohhhhh I do so miss not having it right outside 24/7. But this year, (I've said the same every year since this new one's been in storage mind you), I fully intend to have all our clobber and bedding laid out on the bed in the back room all ready to transport downstairs and into the van so that I'm not hobbling around like a headless chicken AGAIN! I say that every year too

Hubby goes up for a kip while I still faff about in and out so that he's had a bit of rest before we set off which we do around midnight  once he's loaded in the awning etc. that have to go over the axle once I've done the rest of the loading and stowing. We prefer to travel through the night so as not to be a pain in the bum to all non-towing folk and we pull into services for him to have an hours more kip a couple of times too and we arrive to our campsite mid-morning.

Ohhhhh...only EIGHT more nights and we're off...Can't wait

Hope you have a wonderful time at The Lakes and yer right of course....THEY love caravans thereIn fact, they'd be lost without us!

Donna - You can't really control what other people think unless they tell you, thus giving you the opportunity to understand their point of view ..........so why worry about it?

NB - Fire regulations (Means of Escape) don't apply to single family domestic properties. So I don't know why the Council chap felt inclined to make such a comment?

Just ignore the moaners, we had a real problem with the neighbours at OH's mums house when we used to store it there, I just told them to get a life and go and re-align there net curtains as all the twitching had made them wonky

They are only jealous

Happy caravanning

Our neighbour who has 'no life' has no net curtains to straighten but he just peers at us and when we spot him he ducks down and 'pretends' that he is just 'looking at the floor'!  OH and i have both waved at his at times and he has never waved back! He drives me absolutely mad - it seems everytime i'm outside he is up in the bedroom window watching!!

We have our van at home on the drive. We are lucky we have no prohibitions, and the neighbours have never said anything.

It really does not affect them as it is well screened. But if they did say anything we would soon sort them out!
