hello again i have bought a lovely new laptop today and a dongle to take on our long tour,,,see my other post!! does anyone else do this or is their only me this sad hehe,
------------- wishing everyone,,,,what you would wish for yourselves x
I recently got one so I could check my email and log onto UKCS whilst away. Unfortunately, we couldn't get a signal on our second week when we were on a different site. Looks like I will end up wasting about 1gb. Glad I didn't pay for any more.

We have had one for a while, the coverage around the Uk is very patchy however, sometimes its fine and you can surf for hours and others you cannot log on at all.
I wouldnt like to have to rely on one for checking anything important, or working whilst away, they do have an annoying habit of loosing stuff when you press the 'Send' button either by no coverage or signal, logging you off line even if you had gained the signal ok a few mins before
The first one we bought was from VodaPhone, but we had very poor service and it all ended up in the hands of trading standards department, the one we have now is T-Mobile and thats about as good as it gets using dongles for us!
Got the boy a Vodaphone one for out 3 week tour of the North of England & Scotland.
He used it on all 5 sites every night and during the journeys, mostly for MSN and web camming. Got a signal virtually all of the time and in 3 weeks used only £9 worth of credit.
i have the vodafone payasyougo dongle, works ok most of the time, i expect all the others have there weak spots, but the good thing with the vodafone one is you dont lose your credit after a month like you do with o2 and others
took my laptop and dongle away with me just recently although i got a signal i only logged on once . so i cannot be hooked as my oh says so lol i have a phone with internet as well
has anybody used their dongles in the Highlands and up around John O Groats, we didn,t bother getting one as we were led to believe there was no coverage around Shiel Bridge/ Kyle of Lochalsh and John o Groats
I have the option of using my phone which is with BT (bouncing off Vodaphone) but they have very low download limits (10 meg iirc) you can pay extra for so called unlimited use, but that is still slapped with a fair usage policy of about 150 mb / month and costs £5. I have a pay as you go dongle for Three which costs £10 for 1.5 Gb and lasts 30 days so meg for meg is a lot cheaper. The dongle itself costs about £20. You have to be careful with all these dongles that you do not exceed your credit as the price suddenly shoots through the roof. Three charge £1 per mb for out of credit useage, Vodaphone if I recall correctly charge a massive £7 per mb!

My son used his while in The Highlands. We were based just South of Fort William and he used it there no probs as well as while we travelled around up there.
