Hi All,
We have just bought our first fixed bed caravan. I was wondering if it is really worth buying the correct shaped bottom sheets etc. We find that a normal duvet is absolutely fine, it just drives me mad with the mattress protector keep 'pinging' off the corners
Any ideas.............lol x

Have just bought our first fixed bed and find normal bedding suffices. Have a matress cover and works fine, might be worth getting a king size and foling under if a double is tight.
Aren't they comfy tho............

We use ordinary bedding too no hassle thought the sheet is a fitted one. The shaped ones are very expensive for what they are.

Hi there,
You are so right - we are soooo glad we bought a fixed bed. It's so much better not having to make the bed up every night .....
I think I will try the 'king size' bedding option - the ready-made stuff is so expensive......
Thanks again

We did buy a mattress protector shaped to the bed and one fitted sheet just to compare. I think the mattress protector is worthwhile but I do wonder if the sheets are really needed, time will tell. You do pay premium prices which will put some people off. We got ours from Jonic, nice products but a bit slow on deliveries.

We use normal stuff, we have a mattress topper as the boss finds the mattress a bit firm, it tucks under the mattress on the cutaway bit along with the fitted sheet.
It does pop out sometimes but not worth the aggro and expense of buying the shaped stuff.

We have a duvet and cover cut to size and shape of the mattress to lay on (d-i-y job, took a couple of hours)
and a normal double duvet and cover to cover us
Works fine - bottom duvet acts as a mattress protector and sheet

Agree with Jennirfenm, Lidl cotton jersey stretch sheets - double size - are perfect, and they are good quality and wash really well. Also bought a double mattress cover - ordinary one from Dunelm, and that too is fine, no need for the extra expense.
We use a normal double duvet and cover, and no problems with them either.
BTW Lidl have the sheets at the moment.

Sew a bit of elastic to the corner of the cut off bit on the sheet so it will stay in place!!

When I had a van with a fixed and odd shaped mattress I used the elastic straps that are sometimes sold to hold ironing board covers on (a length of elastic with something like a suspender Clip on each end- in fact we made our own slightly longer ones from exactly that) I just used a regular fitted sheet and attached the straps underneath. The sheet never moved.
