Is it just me or do those of you hunting down a van lose the will to live lol?

Hubby bought a caravan in error a few days ago and had to sell it on. He presumed it was 26ft but it was in actual fact 27ft. It was too big for our garden so we had to bash a hole in the wooden gates for the tow hitch to stick out 17. the neighbours were laughing at it and asking if it will be a cat flap once the caravans gone.

It was too big for the pitch we have booked for the 26th in Corfe Castle too 17. This is a much needed 3 nights away from the kids and now its looking like we might not be able to go. Our friends have said we should have hung onto our old van but it was pretty tatty and we had a buyer for it so just let it go incase no one else was interested. My hubby is sick to death of this caravan hunting lark and has warned me not to mention the "c" word to him when he comes home from work tonight17.

We're really apprenhensive about buying a new van now cuz of the bad luck we've had in the past of going to look at something miles away only to find a peice of junk when we get there, plus the trouble we had with a nutter off ebay who has incidently found me on here so i've had to change my forum name. It was a bit creepy really cuz my name was slightly different on ebay, how the hell he knew i came on here and found the relevent moaning posts about him is beyond me!

ROUGHLY...where do you live and how much do you want to spend. Someone from this site may have a caravan of interest for you...you could even buy mine!

Hi thanks for the offer, i read your post and your van is way out of my league17

We initially had a £4000 budget but a few things have cropped up and now we only have £3000 ish so i suppose we can only afford a mid 90's model now. I don't mind though i quite like the older vans. Hubby just resents paying the money for them when he knows he can buy a hobby for the same money thats 5 or so yrs newer. They are cheaper for a good reason though....wish he'd get that into his head17

Whatever happens don't get disheartened. We spent 2 years trying to but the right van on a budget. Got ours last december and it was worth the wait. Good Luck

PS my wife had to drag me out to look for vans at the weekend too and now I am hooked to a caravan forum!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

LOL i couldn't imagine my hubby gassing away on here....although he does look over my shoulder when i quote something interesting or i'm giggling over some peoples comments.

As for waiting 2 yrs...i get frustrated after 2 wks!17  We've had 3 caravans this yr already and the first one had damp which hubby didnt realise when he picked it up, the 2nd one was a "do for now" but was on a downward slope so we thought best to get shot of it before it got too bad and then we bought that one that was too big. He really is rubbish at buying vans, then he gets mad with himself and sulks and then makes me feel bad for wanting one and putting him through it lol. I keep telling him he needs to bring me each time cuz i don't take no prisoners lol. As soon as i get in a van, the first thing i say is do you mind if i take some off the cushions off so i can have a good look for damp. This usually makes their faces drop a mile 17. I always check all the walls and floor first before i take any notice to anything else. The trouble with hubby is he's too polite and doesn't like to ask to poke around. He's always too eager to please me as well so just brings home any old crap just to shut me up. My face then twists when i see it and he goes mad and strops off annoyed with himself. he said he's had enough and not interested no more cuz theres no honest sellers out there. Give him a few days and he'll be on the ol laptop hunting again....he's got the camping bug he won't be able to go caravanless for too long 17

Lingray - thought you'd have caravan on your drive by now!!!

For goodness sake, you're been home 6 days now!!!

(Only joking Lyn - it's me - Booty 30 - with the mad dog!!)

We are on the look out for a tent/trailer tent but they are so expensive - Highbridge Caravans (who I recommend to you) have a cracking offer on a Outwell Ohio XL tent that they can't honour so I've contacted Trading Standards (but it won't get me anywhere!)

Good luck all in your quest ...............

Hi Lin - nice to hear from you!  Could you give Gold my email address please to contact me re: trailer tent its   jajabooth at blueyonder.co.uk     thanks petal x

Josh's birthday went ok thanks, he had a great day and we even managed to get him a birthday cake!  Just as well we left on the Friday as it took us over 7 hrs to get back (due to traffic & accident at Bristol) then the whole family descended on us Saturday morning.

Hope you strike it lucky with the caravan hunt - don't give up hope, you're dream home is out there somewhere.

Keep in touch cocka  xxxxx

Hi Lin, You and me both. Some are to good to be true (def scams!).  I think we need a lottery win to get what we want though.  Will still keep looking though (it's doing my head in) 17, we are also hoping to have replaced by October meet as well. Have you checked out the washing machines yet?  17
