Hi Brett
A load of 2500kg is huge, the tyres would be super heavy duty. I have had to replace mine this month due to a handbook problem, and I got Avon 8 plys, the strongest I could get. They have a load of 950kg each, still well below that figure of yours.
First look on your chassis on the A frame, mine's on the offside. It will give the maximum chassis load. To find which tyres you need, divide this max chassis load by 2 and add on about 10% as the safety factor. ie if you have a max chassis load of 1000kg, this gives a max load of 500kg per tyre (you ignore the weight on the towhitch) and add 10% safety factor, ie you need a max load of 550kg per tyre.
If you take this information and your tyre size to a decent tyre dealer, they should tell you what you need. A higher figure for the max tyre load is obviously good, but don't go below that.
Don't forget to check the spare this might be the correct rating if its not been used, though my tyres on a new van were below the 10% safety level.
Once you get new tyres, look at the max load rating of the tyres, and the max tyre pressure (it will be on the side of the tyre) then use the following formula:
max chassis load x max tyre pressure Correct pressure = ________________________________ 2 x max tyre load
