Was at the storage today and there was a guy clening his very green van kids sat inside having a picnic
I mentioned how impressed i was that the van had cleaned up so well to which he replied he has cleaned it more than used it, he last used it 2 years ago they have owned for 5 years and used twice so in those 5 years they have paid £1000 in storage and hardly used it
they have no plans to use it this year either so why do they bother lol
there are a few like that in the storage compound that I use as well, weeds growing up the side and covered in green and you can tell its been a very long time since anyone visited them never mind move them, I cant see the point in keeping them myself.

We once new a guy in Australia who owned a Mercedes he was'nt in a well paid job, and really struggled to pay for and run the Merc so one day after we had had more than a couple of drinks I asked him why he did'nt go for some thing that he could easily afford his answer was ' Pride of Possesion ' it takes all sorts, but I have never forgotten that reply

There's a caravan outside a house round the corner from me - it's a huge twin axle thing, looks quite new, and it's parked literally a couple of inches from the front room window, almost completely covering it, and the hitch is almost on the pavement. It's been moved twice in the last 2 or 3 years and only for a couple of days each time.
maybe it's ill health or they find van is larger than feel comfortable towing. theres a guy who has a Avondale twin axle stored in the barn where I keep our van went out once last year ,but has been sat there since last October pity vans only 3 years old.Speaking to him he admited the van was a lot bigger and longer than he felt comfortable towing.
There are a few caravans - not big ones either - at the storage place where mine is that obviously haven't been used in years, all green with filthy widows. I've often wondered why people leave them there like that when it must be costing at least £300 a year in rent.

wish i could afford to do that,we have recently sold our van,as having been laid off work on health grounds we couldn't afford to keep it and use it much.it would have cost us £500 a year to store it,and van was only worth the same.Again there were some that never moved
My cousin has a 5 berth caravan sat on her drive that she bought 2nd hand from a dealer, had an oven fitted, used it once and has never used it again. She store's Xmas presents in it. Last year they bought a tent and went away in that for a couple of days. I asked her why they didn't get a tow bar fitted to the car and take the caravan. She and her husband are homebirds and very rarely go away on family holidays. She takes her kids to her mum and dad's hut if she wants to go away.
I don't understand why they just leave it there because i'd imagine it will take some work to get it roadworthy again.
as above just waiting for the day i dont have to work every other weekend roll on thursday off to boston booked thursday friday and tuesday off so a long bank holiday weekend for us
saying that our older caravan is still on the storage site it was a tester van before we upgraded and we havent got around to selling it yet but site fees are only 110 pounds per year its getting like my garage and shed now though all that extra storage space will get round to selling it soon or wait until spring time next year give me chance to catch up on some of the jobs i should have done before buying the new to us van
