It might be awkward if you have an awning up. I know a lot of people have them fitted in storage but if they have been packed in as tightly as in my experience of storage facilities then they would have to pull the van forward and block access to people passing in order to get access to the wheels. You do need access to both sides.
Yes it can be done, you need at least 1.5 meters free down each side of the van. Time depends on cable runs etc and is around 3 hours.
As for sites it depends on the owners and usually only if the engineer has public liability insurance. Try mcea.co.uk for a fitter or talk to Bolsover Caravans, he does them at a really good price.
You certainly didn't have 1.5 meters down either side when my van was in storage. Should be possible on site, but an awning will make things difficult.
we have just had a powrtouch mover fitted whilst on a site - I note the above posts which suggest getting site permission, I went with the 'ask forgiveness' route and everything was fine. took about 2.5 hours in total. I did take the awning down whilst the guy was fitting the mover so I could check it works and get a demo lesson. I arraanged to have the mover fitted on the penultimate day so we didn;t have to put the awning back up. Very glad we got it fitted on site so we didnt't waste time at the storgae site getting it fitted
Thanks guys. Yes like SuperGeist we would arrange to have it fitted on the last day. Our van is in storage in Cornwall so the only real option is deliver it to a fitter or have it done on site.
