 have also spoken to my caravan service dept, who state the heating and other appliances are designed to run 24/7.

To be on the safe side, I have decided to purchase a Carbon monoxide alarm as I think this would be better in the event of a leak.

Does anyone follow the CC advice, do you think it is appropriate to a modern well serviced van?.
Also has anyone fitted a CO alarm, if so, where is the best place for it to be positioned?.

24/7 safety is correct providing they  are serviced each year,dust and spider webs can be the failing of some systems.we would not be without an alarm at any time.the cost of thirty pounds for an alarm is a cheap and safe way to go.ours is over the doorway as it must not be in sunlight or near the cooking range.see

We avoid using gas heating anyway but I think I would worry about using it overnight although lots of people do in very cold weather when the electric side of the heating is not man enough for the job. We have also been reluctant to use even the electric heating overnight as it was right by the end of the bed but we now have a different van where the heater is well away from the bed so we might be tempted. Up to know we have always taken an oil filler rad with us as that can keep the chill out of the air over night.

We use an oil filled rad too, perfectly effective and certainly keeps us toasty.

fan heater during the day/evening small oil filled rad over night ,I'm paying for the electric so why use gas unless your on a site with no EHU.

the price of these detecters are reasonably priced but please lets not by a cheap moeld to save a few quid!!!
