Haven't got one but looked in one at the NEC show last year. Only thing I remember about it was I wondered where  children are supposed to sleep as it is a family van. There is no way anyone would get a decent nights sleep in our van if our kids had to share a double bed! Perhaps I was mistaken but I couldn't find any other obvious sleeping arrangment for them?

Hi Lozzie,

From what I remember this would probably be a good van if you are only taking one child, they would certainly have a good sized bed. We looked at it as a family with two kids though and as I said earlier our boys would kick each other all night in a double bed!

Could be a good layout for you though ,definitely worth a look.

Hi - but bad news.

We were also interested in buying a new Bailey Ardennes as we only need a 4 berth. However because we live in N. Ireland no one here had one nor would they bring one in. So we phoned Bailey and much to our dismay they have already discontinued this model telling us that it was only a "limited edition". If you want one there are only about 8 left in the UK and a few of those are in Scotland so you either need to be quick (as some of the remaining ones seem to have a price premium of about £1000 on them) or go for an alternative - the Loire seems like a good bet even if it is a six berth.

Re the sleeping arrangements I believe the idea was that 2 kids slept in the side beds of the lounge (2 singles) and that the dining area formed a bed the same size as the fixed bed that it replaced for the adults. This meant that you could shut the kids away with the folding door and there would be no access to the kids area without first going through the adult room - a bit of an extra security feature for children.

If you go to Baileys web site the competion entry is still listed and it shows you the thinking behind the original van including the berthing etc on a PDF document. Competition

I think Bailey has been too quick off the mark here, but I can't help wondering if it has something to do with the new "top secret" Pegasus range that is being introduced in another 2 weeks?

Yes sad but true, back in June/July time Walford in Taunto were already out of stock and unable to get more.  Shame they discontinued it it was something quite different.

I saw one at our local dealers when they came out, a lovely van for a family wanting masses of storage. If you've only the one teenager to come with you, have you considered the Pageant Provence series7? We've just come back from 3 weeks in cornwall in ours & it's a lovely family van with a seperate shower cubicle which we love. The front bed set up as two singles gives two good beds, our son is 6' 2" & slept on there with no problem. The double is also good at both ends although we've not used the bunk so can't comment.

I see Bailey are talking of a model to be launched soon called the Pegasus. That'll be interesting.

Hi. We bought a Bailey Ardennes and it is amazing.

There are only 2 of us, but if you had a couple of kids they could sleep in the front 2 singles.

We like to tour off season and only stay a couple or three nights in any one place so don't believe in struggling putting awnings up.  With the Ardennes there is so much room for everyone that an awning is not needed.

We have had fixed bed caravans, both off set and island berths and have decided that the bed was taking up half of the caravan which to me seems daft, after all you only sleep in them .

The extra space the dinette/bed gives you in the Ardennes is great and it only takes a couple of minutes to drop the table, sort out the cushions and make up the bed.  Far easier than faffing around making a fixed bed up to look good.

I saw one being towed down the M5 recently so they're out & about. Amazing amount of storage in them.

Hello thankyou for all your replies, i started this thread some time ago, however since then we have bought a Coachman and we are very happy with it. as others have said they are quite scarce, in fact this will be good for the resale value. I think they are brilliant vans and loved the layout enjoy your van.
