Hi
we went to this rally, it was our first time at a Northern Centres Rally.
The fields were very soggy and churned up in parts. However the weather stayed bright enough for all of the well organised activities to go on and lots of fun was had by all........until....(and I bet your glad you moved on when you did)...just before midnight on the monday eve North Lancs were woken by lots of movement and flashlights as we were told to get up asap and move the van as the fields were flooding. Half asleep, in the pouring rain and in pjs we dragged the awning down and tried to gather as many of our things as possible. We fled to one of the marquees, where a comforting hot drink and blankets where handed out whilst the men folk helped to move the vans further up the hill with their 4x4s.
Things could have been much worse if it wasnt for the kindness of the ralliers who with no thought for just themselves mucked in and made sure everyone was helped.
The organisers made sure we had regular updates and plenty of hot drinks and comfort. We we very quickly given the all clear as the floods ebbed back and we returned to our vans. The following day was just the same everyone came out made sure that all was ok and that we could get off the field.
We have never been so looked after by such fantastic people. We would never be put off joining any rally again, although hard standings do sound a much better idea!!
Dawn
ps next years Rally was announced to be at Houghton Hall and run by East Yorkshire
we'll def be there!!
