Hi there

I am a caravan novice and wondered if anyone has previously owned a Swift Challenger 520? There was no paperwork with the caravan or manuals so I am at a bit off a loss as to how the heating works.

Does anyone have any tips or things to look out for? We are taking the caravan away this weekend for our 1st trip.

might be able to help you there.

it should be the same as mine, so a gas only heater, with a fanmaster attached, so you need to have the gas on, turn the control know round, and push it down, then use the ignitor button. there is a window in the front to look in to see when its lit, hold the button in for about 20 secs, then release.

the brown dial on the side of the wardrobe can be set to manual (ie dial sets fan speed) or auto (speed changes as van gets cooler)

I have full set of manuals for that van, they do need scanning in before I send them.

if you drop me an e-mail timtheenchanteruk at hotmail.com I will try to get them to you.

Just been looking at the 1990 Swift sales brochure and i think your 520 may be a Conqueror and not a Challenger , if you'd like the sales brochure send me a email ( address below ) .

I think you are right Wizard9956. I did a google search on the Swift Conqueror and the pictures on the web are identical to my caravan.

Hi Kev,

The easiest givaway is that my 520/5 Challenger is white and the Conqueror is cream.
The conqueror had a 'curve' to the kitchen area and the Challenger doesn't.

Pics of a Challenger 520/5ta on my profile... and it isn't listed in the 1990 Sprite manual, only the Conqueror is but dimensions etc are the same.

Nice aint they?

Run a piece of string through your awning rail and mark where each end touches the ground. This measurement will give you the size of the awning you need. Just ensure that the awning is suitable for the height of your caravan. This measurement is taken from the ground to your awning rail and is usually measured through the wheel centre line (or between centre of wheels on a twin axle van).
