Can anybody please help me My towing outfit is a subaru Forester S Turbo and i tow my 2001 Eldiss Typhoon GT 4 birth caravan.
I am now looking into purchasing a 125cc lightweight moped and would also like to be able to take this away so i dont keep having to use the car.
Heres the problem i am looking for something that can possibly go onto my car rear so i can carry it, I normally have 3 mountain bikes on the rear with a Halfords 3 cycle rear carrier but can find anything on the web about this.
Wonder if anybody knows how to get this to work Look forward to your replies
afraid there not called mopeds anymore, they used to be "motorised pedal cycles"
hence mopeds, with pedals.
now they are motorcycles or scooters, cirtainly a 125 would be too heavy to mount on the back, maybe your only option would be something like a monkey bike to put inside the car.
a moped as to be under 50cc and restricted to under 30mph. they havent needed pedals for years. (1970,s)its possible to get a specframe carrier that fits behind the tow bar hitch leaving the ball free to tow with. i believe mine is a dave cooper carrier bought from sammy millers in hampshire i think. have used it succesfully for about15yrs. ideal for a small m,bike .cheers alan.
a 50cc will take both of you but will be slow. i have used a 50cc lifan dax with a mate on the back. i,m 16st he,s 19 st. it was abit of a squeeze but it worked. otherwise get your bike licence you know you want to.
I'm sure they are, I have seen several ads for them (including some on here)for sale in the UK saying that they are road legal. I know that they are in European countries and in the US, Australia and New Zealand so I would be surprised if you can't register them for the road in the UK. They are/were used by those chauffeur services that drive you home in your own car if you've had too much to drink.
Just found this :
The moped - a Di-Blasi weighing in at 35kg and powered at speeds of up to 30mph by a 50cc engine - can be ready for the road in minutes and it comes in its own tough carrybag. The moped is fully automatic and can be ridden by full UK car licence holders without 'L' plates.
And here is one for sale that is registered for the roadDiblasi for sale
The moped is fully automatic and can be ridden by full UK car licence holders without 'L' plates.
I did not think the new type licence had moped entitlement added to it? If it doesnt you will need to take a CBT and use L plates, No passenger allowed.
Did one of the caravan manufacturers not advertise one of its vans as ideal to carry a motorcycle inside? Wedge shape one with a rear door.
