Hi, just wondering if anyone knows what towing mirrors are the best to fit onto a Honda Civic 56 plate , 5 door? We ordered Suck it and Sees and have had to send them back as they don't stay on at all!

Thanks.

We like "Rock Steady" mirrors.

They are of good size, cheap and dont fall off!

They are a bit belts and braces (screws and straps) but I dont think thats a bad thing after your experience with the suckits!

Suzy

When we had our 56 plate Civic we found the suck it ones were no good as the mirror glass is indented too far.  We had Milenco Aero mirrors and they never fell off the Civic.

We were not so lucky with our Zafira, however.  We are now currently using strap on (no clamps) Milenco mirrors, but the curve of the Civic mirrors may not suit.

Hi, thanks for your replies. Zafiral, the Milenco mirrors that you had, were they both flat, or convex or one of each? Thanks.

Sorry, I can't remember which I had.  I think they were both flat ones, I find that the convex ones (I had a suck it convex on the passenger side for a couple of months), granted they give you a wider view, but I found it really hard to judge distances to tell when I had cleared vehicles in the LH lane allowing me to pull back in.  It is personal choice but I prefer flats on both sides.  I personally use the car mirrors for the wider angle (so much easier without the suck it and sees!!!!).

My suck it and see mirrors are currently in the front locker as emergencies.

What is the width of your caravan Suzie? we tow with an 09 plate Civic and a 7ft van and with a bit of fiddling and ajustment we can see fine down both sides of the van without the need for any additional mirrors.

Julia

When we had our Civic we had a 7'2" van and while you could see down both sides with the car mirrors, you got a much, much better view behind you with mirrors.  I am sure that with a 7' van it is not legal to tow with no mirror extensions.  If you cannot see both rear corners of the van you need extension mirrors.

BTW Adrias (like Suzie's) are usually quite wide, all current Alteas are 7'6" wide.

Thanks, we've taken your advice and bought some Milenco Aero mirrors and they fit like a treat. Thanks very much Zafiral.

Don't change the Civic for a Zafira (as we had to realistically when we got a bigger van with a smaller payload!!) or it will be more new mirrors!!!

Hi Gerry, very funny! Wish we'd thought of the blutak first, it would have saved us a lot of time and money hunting for the right mirrors!! Thanks for the ones you gave us by the way, just a shame the straps broke.
