Hi, just bought a Quest Lounge Awning and was expecting a fibreglass pole for the front arch. Can anyone advice me on how you get the alluminium pole to form this curve.

No we have one the front hoop is aluminium its a 2 person job to erect though, you have to carefully bend the pole to the shape.

The front pole should be the long adjoined poles, slot together first then insert through the pouches on the awning and place one end in the brass eyelet on the bottom tape. then bend pole into arch shape and insert other end in other brass eyelet. this should then have formed the shape of the arch naturally.
Poles will go back to straight when taken apart at end of usage.

Seems a better idea than fibreglass. What a good design.

Thank you all for your advise, good to hear the poles return to there original shape-thanks Ian.Not going away in van untill 18/09/09, so will let you know how I struggled on 17.

I think the aluminium pole is more robust than the fibreglass one, there does seem to be a lot of pressure on it. At the end of a couple of seasons some of the sections are quite curved and won't return to their original shape, though this isn't a problem...they always end up in the same place.
On the whole I find it a very good awning. Its fairly easy to put up and quite versatile. Doors can be in various places and all sorts of sections roll up or zip out. It's an ideal awning for the two of us.

I bought one (really cheap) as well but it came minus the poles. Bought a set from quest and they didn't include the front pole either. Ended up buying a fibreglass pole kit from Amazon that i have to say worked really well.

Only problem now is one of the plastic zips on the front panel has broken. Anyone got any ideas how to repair or replace?
