 hi blondie!!17

buying your first van is always a delight, but depends on size of family and how much you want to spend, also what you tow with,

there are plenty of good used vans on the market, decent ones are ones that have been looked after and serviced as per reccomendations, aim to spend at least 4-5k on a 4berth,we have a 4berth with end dressing room,shower/toilet and sink, double at front, side dinette makes into two bunks, this suits us as there are only the two of us.

if you go on to caravanfinder.net gives you plenty of choice, shows different layouts, you can view them, put in your preferences at it will come up with plenty.

word of warning tho!! look on here for opinions in past posts re dealers, some are ripoff merchants, one especially up nr manchester,

all the best and happy hunting, you will know which is the right one when you see it,it will stand out to you.

I would advise you have a good look around at dealers and on-line to see what you can get for your budget.

Check your car towing limit and max. noseweight also as this may have a bearing if you dont want to change car as well.

Depending on your budget, you should get a warranty from a dealer but will pay more than a private sale.

Check the private ads on this Forum and also look in your local paper and free ads, best if van is local and you can go and give it a good look over. CHECK FOR DAMP, and check again. Ask to see CHRIS registration and check all numbers agree. Ask if there is a service history, also are the manuals still present, often a sign of being looked after. What is coming with the van and does everything work?

I bought my van off eBay but you need to be aware that although bargains are to be had there are also many scams and rubbish vans. You need to be prepared to walk away if it doesn't seem right.
