Anyone, I have an Award Northstar 4 berth single axle, not sure what the correct tyre pressure should be. One site worked it out at 54psi, seems slightly high. Look forward to your help with this prob.

Read of the side of the tyre

Max PSI & Max weight

PSI is divided Weight IE 65psi / 1350kg = 0.048 then multiply by by true vans weight 0.048 X 1250kg = 60 PSI

If it helps manufacturer recommends 54psi for a Bailey single axle with MTPLM of 1445Kg

Dave it depends on tyre, on mine a coachman VIP 520/4 states 175 X 13 6 ply where 54psi is correct, but if using a 8 ply 60psi would be correct. That why the maths way is correct & not the book.

I was only trying to give a point of reference not a definitive value. Rule of thumb is often a fair guide i.e. if it 'feels' about right it probably is.

He would be wise to follow your advice as the subject matter expert.

Right info on tyre max weight 1740 at max of 64 psi which gives a figure of 0.037 and true weight of van is 1400, so this calculation results in 51.8 psi.

Have I done the calculation right?

True weight does that include all your bits, ie clothes awning food ect if yes then 51.8 is ok.

If the van true weight is 1400, add the extra weight and redo sum.

yes the 1400 true weight includes the 263 allowance for extras, but will try adding it on to the 1400 and see what thet number is!
