Have sold dh's car which means I get to have a mover woo hoo

so do i buy now or wait and see if they get sold off over winter ??

Make sure you get a big battery and even with a mover, you will have to caravan near to home!!!

Seriously back to movers I would recommend Powrtouch - their aftersales service has been 2nd to none.

Sorry to disagree but I've had Rhyno's fitted on two chassis (a folding camper and a caravan) and found both of them to be good bits of kit.

We have a Rhyno and its a great bit of kit. I guess, though, that all manufacturers occasionally make a bad one and if you happen to get it then it will taint your opinion of them forever.

Having read the forums I have seen far less complaints about the Rhyno than most other makes.

This is the second rhyno we have had, They had to replace the first one and although this one isn't as bad it still stalls a lot and sometimes just won't move.

Rhynos don't get that many complaints as they don't sell as many as the likes of enduro or powrtouch.

I certainly won't be buying another, Our van is nearly 1500kgs and despite being assured it would be fine I think they work better on lighter vans,

I spoke to a caravan engineer and he says he wouldn't recommend them at all unfortunately.

We have an Enduro Mover, its a great piece of kit.  Never had any problems with it.  Bought it new for £475 when they first came out about 2 years ago and fitted it our selves.  I am very happy with it.  The only problem we have ever had (Touch Wood) was when fitting it the head of one of the bolts sheared off (it must have been defective).  Gave them a a call and they sent a replacement for the next day.

I have had the Rhyno charger fitted both times which is the heavier duty unit as it wasn't much more expensive and gave a lifetime warranty.

I presume when you say a caravan engineer you mean a general caravan service engineer rather than somebody who deals with caravan movers? Did he say why he wouldn't recommend them?

Its the heavier duty one with the lifetime warranty, I specified that at the time and double checked when they fitted (both of them! LOL)

The caravan service engineer just said he wouldn't recommend them as he has known of problems with them, especially with regards to the stalling of them under extra pressure.  He will fit any kind of mover to any kind of van but said he owuld only recommend the powrtouch, But he doesn't supply them, just fits them to people who have boight it.

I know there was someone on here with exactly the same issues as me but they have since sold there van with the mover attached.

I am stuck with the Rhyno for the time being, although we only use it to get on and off storage pitch as OH usually reverses on site unless it so awkward she can't swing it round so its not a major problem, although I think in time we will change to a powrtouch.

I'd recommend a purple line enduro on the grounds that in 3 years I haven't needed the aftersales the damn thing just works!

They're only £549 fitted round by us too!

You cannot argue with £549 fitted however!!

We have a rhyno and although our van is only 1000kg it moves it up a very steep drive.  Only ever had one problem - when I applied too much force on the engaging lever and broke a pin.  Even though It was my fault he still came out and fixed it.  The rhyno uses a 60:1 gearing which makes it slower but surer and it has metal gears as opposed to nylon gears as some use.  Nylon gears can wear and lead to slippage on a slope.  I need to know the van isn't going to come crashing through my house!
