Dear All

Following the posting of a number of threads on various forums it has become apparent that somebody has gained access to password protected section of the Pegasus site.

I would just like to clarify therefore, that the Pegasus Launch on Wednesday 16th September is for the Bailey Retailer Network and Caravan Media only. We have no provision to accommodate members of the public at this event.

The public launch will be at the International Caravan & Motorhome Show (Stand 18-15) at the NEC on Tuesday 13th October.

The new Pegasus web site, www.baileypegasus.co.uk  will go live on Thursday 17th September.

Thank you again for all your interest in this new range and once you have had a change to digest all the relevant information we would welcome your feedback.

Best Regards

Kelly

Hello Kelly

Nice to see you posting on UKCS, no doubt you'll find your advice & product knowledge will be welcomed by a lot of members. I knew you were reading the forum but lease stick around now you've started posting.

It'll be very interesting to see what Pegasus turns out to be, we've noticed a lack of caravns creating lots of space at our local dealership & I've noticed the same at a large Oxfordshire dealership too. We're not sure if this is in readiness for Pegasus or simply because there's a shortage of used caravans.

In fairness to Bailey is it not normal for products to be launched to the trade first?  Take the toy market, they always have trade fairs long before Joe Public gets to see things, also car manufacturers etc with exclusive drives by magazines and motoring shows on alpine roads and various racetracks.

Yes, you launch to the media and the media tells the public all about it. Then you present to the public, which is what will happen at the NEC in October. All Bailey have done is to try (successfully) to stir up the publicity before the launch. I just hope they haven't over-hyped it.

I have been led to belive by a friend in the media line of work that the new Bailey product is a new motorhome totaly built by Bailey not on a ford or fiat chassis..

He has been wrong in the past but not offten..

We will have to wait and see.

Even if it is all built by Bailey, surely they need a motor manufacturer to provide engine, mechanicals and one would guess a chassis too. Or maybe Bailey are going to put motor manufacturers mechanical components into their own chassis. That would be a very bold and brave move. I am sure Bailey buy in caravan chassis from a 3rd party (is it Al-Ko - i am not 100% sure?), so why would they want to manufacture their own motor caravan chassis? Whatever they are up to i bet they know the best way to do things, after all they have just a little bit of experience in building leisure vehicles hehe...

On the other thread that is running several peeps claim to have seen them, one in a compound somewhere in Plymouth.  If this is true, then they are caravans it seems.

They bought a £1m grp laminating machine last year. The van will be made in a totally new way (as Hymers?) with no wood to rot.

A lot will depend on the weight and the quality of the build. I have not been a fan of Bailey in the past but here they have an opporunity to win me over.

Details in this months Practical Caravan magazine which arrived on our doormat this morning.  I eagerly found the pages and was disappointed that it seems to be a new way of making the outside.  It's about making it more weatherproof, robust and durable and better suited to all year round caravanning.  The windows are flat to the body too by the look of the pictures.

Sorry haven't been a lot of help, all the construction outside stuff is boring to me

Yes Pegasus is on the front of Practical Caravan, looks good and a bit different, havent looked at the inside yet tho. If its more robust and weatherproof all the better for this country. I live in Cumbria and thought we were going to have to build an ark before long it rained so much!!

There are always new ideas at every manufacturer, but they have to better each other to get there product sold. I don't want to say too much, but there used to be a  lot of new ideas passed from one firm to another in the Humberside area in the early days before the the prototypes were shown at Earls Court. Can't believe it doesn't still go on. I was in the caravan trade in those days. That's why I have a tent and a folding camper now LOL

WELL Practical Caravans is showing the caravan, it seems good very strong and durable and has a 10 year ingress guarantee, the inside not very different but loving the extendable seating so you can put your feet up!!If it had a sliding wooden door instead of a concertina and an electric hotplate instead of 4 gas burners and something more substantial than a blind shutting off the fixed bed it would be near perfect for me!! I love the colouring of the seats too blue and brown like my living room!! LMAO
