Regarding the chimney I put a woolen Pom Pom hat on mine and secure it with an elastic band. leave the Status aerial on but remove the spike, it only screwa on. If there are any sharp edges in the awning rail put something like bubble wrap over them. Cover anything that protrudes that you think may damage the cover. I put mine on from back to front as follows: we place the cover on the floor at the back of the van, with thew front seactiopn on the top, then standing either side at the back we get a sweeping brush each, put it under the front of the cover, then both of you lift the cover onto the roof and walk forward.
I am 70 plus and the wife is 50 plus, the van is 8.04 metres long and we have no problems doing the above. Once you have done it a couple of times you wont think twice about it. I have never bothered with moisture absorbers, but as the van is next to the house and permanently on mains I leave in fan heater inside set on it its frost settings.
