Well we did it and ordered it today, paid the deposit and it will be in for December.  They will deliver it to us in January as we away for Christmas and won't have a car to tow it until Feb. 

We made the kids last night help us test whether it would fit on the drive!  We each held a length of string to make the shape of the van and moved around to ensure it would fit on!  The neighbours must have thought we had gone mad.  Especially since my OH kept shouting to the kids to keep a right angle and hold the string tight! 

We are thrilled and now begin our search for a Sportage, CRV or Tuscan second hand.  One kia garage said they had no second hand cars of any description as no one was trading them in.  Only scarpping older ones.  He said 6 months ago there was 5 sportages on the forecourt now none.  The 4x4's are in great demand.  I mentioned about the uptake in caravans and he that could be it.

Congrats it's exciting isn't it.

Not sure of the weight of your van but I would expect it's similar to ours, I was wondering, you said you were thinking of having a Spotage? when I did an outfit match on 'what tow car' it appeared not to be a good match, and so we are looking to change to a Sorento which is a better match.

I would be interested in your views.

We ordered ours a few weeks ago and are waiting for it to be delivered.....  We, too, did the measuring and found it will fit - phew!!

Now to clean out our current van... (only 3 years old, but what a lot we seem to have collected without even noticing!)

Dont bother with the kia sportage , the braking system was made by mickey mouse , they are not made to last . Go for the hyundai tuscon they are more reliable , this is my opinion . Good luck with the caravan, enjoy.

Good choice, the Sancerre is a fantastic van. We bought ours at the NEC  in Feb, took delivery in April and have been away nearly every weekend since. Looked at the California and felt it was not worth the extra money and at the time we thought Bailey would be updating the senator range later this year.

The only couple of niggles we have and they are very, very minor:  the soap dish in the shower (could do with the moulded type that takes your shampoo and shower gel) and the front seats, pity they are not the same length so that the cushions could be changed for even wear and tear.

Sorry about clicking too soon and sending the previous post empty.

What I was about to say was, I do agree totally with Billbob.  We tent to sit on the 'kitchen side' so that it is easier to view the T.V. so I can imagine this side might wear more.  However, we can trade this off - my daughter sleeps on the opposite side - at present she can manage without getting the 'double bed' out.  By the way, have you experimented - it is possible to pull the double bed out for a little way to make up a single.  We fing this is ideal.  We are all heavy sleepers (except my wife).  If my daighter was using the 'part-pulled-out' double (to make a single), my wife can still get up and have a seat in the middle of the nuight if needs be.

We love our Sancerre.

That is a brilliant idea partly pulling the front double out to make a single.  Our little one is 7 now so by the time we change the van she will be too old to use the front settees not pulled out.

We got ours before the Sancerre was released and we looked at a GT60 520/4 and we found the front beds (without pulling anything out) too short in that.  We were then looking at the GT60 540/6 until we found our Pageant S7 being offered at a deal too good to miss.

As you've got a 12 y/o then I assume there is not too much disparity in bed times.  Once bed times converge I am sure we will be looking at a fixed bed.
