Ok I have been going back and forth on this and thought I had made my mind up.  I put a deposit down on a Sancerre last weekend.  For £2k more I could get a pegasus, should I do it?

I know I have had great advice on here and really value your opinons

The body and resale are potentially very big pluses however you have to really like the van as a whole.

If the construction is not as good as Bailey [and I] believe then the 10 year warranty will destroy them along with the support and value of your Sancerre.

Edit: Anything to be clear of the dreadful ABS and its problem.

The Pegasus looks like a super van and look forward to seeing one for real.

I question the ability to carry a car on the roof as not being very practical (you have to look at the brochure to get the joke)

However the Sancerre is also one very nice van.

I would be happy with either!

Hmm read you previous post about your concerns about future value of the Pageant Sancerre you have ordered and i have to say i think you are worrying unnecessarily and i doubt if it will affect it as the Pageant range is still to be manufactured and the demand for second hand tourers is outstripping supply . And as for a new model i would rather wait a year or so and let the design niggles/faults be ironed out

The Pegasus hasn't been tried and tested yet - I think it will take at least 12 months to see if any problems arise with the design. Personally I would stick with what you have ordered.

Oh spideygirl!  What a problem - I really don't know, and I don't think folk will stick their necks out that far in case they are wrong and entice you to buy a van you are not that happy with.

Firstly, are you prepared to wait longer for the Pegasus, or do you 'need' the van for a particular time/event.  In reality, what is the delivery time like.  Secondly, look carefully through the 'Pegasus' thread and see if it is what you want (I bet you have done this).  One of the main problems for me would be the more resticted storeage at floor level as by tweaking the front locker they appear to have got rid of a useful space to store long items (like broom, wastemaster).  Thirdly, in you opinion, is the Pegasus worth the extra 2 grand.  Fourthly, have a good look around a 'live' van, preferably somewhere where there is a Sancerre side by side so you can keep comparing them - take your time and be honest with yourself.  Fifthly, it is a new van with some new features.  Will it have 'teething problems'?  Sixthly, if you change your order, will you get your deposit back?

Personally, if I was in the same situation, I would probably stick with the Sancerre, but to be honest, that would probably be mainly because I couldn't afford the extra couple of grand.  Secondly, I have a Sancerre already which is two months old, and because I have made the choice I would feel the need to justifying that I have made the correct one.

The Sancerre is a nice van - we are happy with it.  But two months on, would I have gone for the Pegasus?  Who knows - the only thing I do know is that we didn't go for the Senator California.

Now, I reckon I know what spideygirl will do.  Any bets?

Best of luck with this one spidey.

Spideygirl,

Just another thought.  You have what I believe is a good deal on the Sancerre.  I think it will probably cost you more than an extra couple of grand to upgrade.  Your Sancerre price includes a motor mover and a good starter pack.  I would think you would not get the same deal with the Pegasus - add on, say, £1200?

The £2k is quoted by my caravan dealer to change to the pegasus with the same package.  They have been changing over the senators for customers, as they are stopping the senators all together.  My sancerre was on order for stock anyway and so is the pegasus.  So no problem is switching over the deposit.  Just not sure if it is worth it.   They said come and have a look at it in October when they get one in.  Same delivery time as well.

Reading the warrently description they appear to be giving the +4 years warrenty free with the pegasus (making up the 10), but they seem to have left themselves room to charge in the future.  It is just the way it reads.

I would be very happy with the sancerre and the pegasus is unknown.

What I need is my OH to put his foot down and say No!  It would make life so much easier.17

When do they stop the Senators then?  I thought they were continuing with the Pegasus running alongside the existing ones?

I was told they are replacing the senators with pegasus.  It maybe that they are waiting until after the show to see if pegasus flys or not!

The pegasus is bulit the same way as freezer wagons so the warranty will be sound even i would put a 10 warranty on it for damp..

Yes it is ugly BUT it appears to be a roughty tuffedy van from what i have seen on a video on the Bailey web site and caravan channel site.

The way it has been put together is like a mecarno set and the interia is the same as my GT60.

Thats two plus's the only minus is the weight and yes i would buy one but next year after the faults have been found but saying that there is the warranty to fall back on and you WILL get some problems with the Sancerre like we did with our 4 month old GT60.

IF YOU HAVE THE CASH GO AND GET IT!

Niall

Other than the age old problem of damp, which (as far as I understand) can be dealt with effectively if it is caught in time, I can't see one getting any more problems with the Sancerre than with any other van, including the Pegasus.  Caravan builders are only human, whether it be Pageant or Pegasus.

If the dealer will do the same deal and just cost you 2k more than I would do it,

I would imagine the pegasus will hold its value better long term and the 10 year warranty is excellent

You know at least if any problems do arrise you have that warranty

If it was me yes I would change, especially looking at pictures of the pegasus

Depends if you change your caravan every 4yrs or so. It seems pointless paying the extra for a Pegasus unless your gonna keep it 20yrs.
